Tri Kappa is a philanthropic sorority formed for the promotion of charity, culture and education in Indiana communities. The Eta Kappa Chapter of Tri Kappa in Avon, Indiana will award over $2000 in scholarship money to one or more qualified high school senior applicants residing in Washington Township who plan to attend college or a trade school in the fall following graduation.

Please be certain to have all materials collected and completed before submission.
Incomplete applications will be deemed ineligible, therefore not considered.

To be eligible, a student must:

  • Be an Avon-Washington Township Resident

  • May not be an immediate relative of a Tri Kappa member

  • Be significantly involved in community service throughout his/her high school career

  • Be involved in extracurricular activities

  • Have a strong, positive academic record

  • Graduate by June 30, 2017 with diploma from regionally accredited Indiana high school.

  • Intend to pursue full-time vocational or baccalaureate course study.

  1. Application (3 pages) – Submissions accepted January 1, 2017 – March 04, 2017.

  2. Essay – In your essay, please respond to the following question:

    "The purpose of Tri Kappa is to bring women into close, unselfish relationships for the promotion of charity, culture, and education. How might you - in your chosen profession - contribute to charity, culture and education in your community?";
    200-250 words max.
     

  3. Copy of official high school transcript

  4. Activities Form

  5. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation on letterhead - One letter must be from an academic professional, such as a teacher or guidance counselor who is familiar with your work. The other letter must be from an individual such as a mentor, coach, student organization advisor or volunteer/service coordinator who can attest to your character, motivation and prospect for success in higher education.

    • On Recommender’s letterhead, sent in sealed envelope.

    • Recommenders cannot be family members.

    • Be aware that letters of recommendation take time to write; provide your recommenders with adequate time to prepare your letters.
